NXL is providing 3D high resolution scanning services and conventional topographic surveying services on the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel facility. The scanning portion of the project includes 8500 linear feet of both the east bound and west bound tunnels. Work within the tunnels is done using full lane closure MOT, provided by VDOT. High accuracy targets are placed every twenty-five feet on the north and south walls of both tunnels. A master survey control traverse will be installed in the pedestrian access walk of each tunnel tube. A complete 3D model has been created for the entire tube enclosure of each tunnel. NXL is providing other scanning services for the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, including the interior spaces of all four tunnel ventilator buildings. Full topographic surveys are being conducted on the North and South Islands and at the Northern and Southern bridge approach areas.
