Christopher Newport University New Hall School of Business Building & Science Building, Phases I and II
NXL provided Surveying services at Christopher Newport University (CNU) for the construction phases of the New Hall School of Business Building and the Science Building Phases I and II, as well as a location survey of the Chiller Building Facility.
NXL’s Land Surveying team, located near Town Center in Newport News, provided existing condition as-built surveys to provide proper placement of these new campus facilities based on CNU’s Overall Master Plan of the “Great Lawn.”
NXL coordinated extensively with the team of Whiting Turner Contractors and Glave & Holmes Architecture Firm to assist in the verification, location, and the typical construction adjustments required to ensure the alignment and placement of the aesthetic features (brick pavers, light posts, utility features, vegetation, etc… to compliment the overall phased Master Plan. NXL also provided daily construction layouts of the building infrastructure to Whiting Turner to keep the construction process moving ahead of schedule.
Throughout the construction stage, many changes and adjustments were made to the initial design plans to provide the best and most economical product for the CNU community. NXL was instrumental in coordinating design and construction adjustments throughout the entire project, from the first ground breaking to the final brick placement.
NXL is very knowledgeable of CNU’s standards and regulations the University utilizes to provide safe and efficient transitions for students and staff members during the planning and construction phases of new buildings throughout the campus.
